Tint Masters tinted my windows years ago and it looked amazing. However, in the past year or so, my back window tint started forming bubbles around the edges. I thought “no big deal, it’s covered under their lifetime warranty.” So, I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, there was a gentleman who pulled up behind me wearing flip flops, cargo shorts, and a t-shirt. I assumed he was another customer but was surprised when he pulled out his keys to unlock the shop doors… turned out to be the technician. He never introduced himself by name and carried himself in an informal and borderline unprofessional manner, but I brushed it off as part of being a small business. After signing me in, he seemed friendly and eager to help until I pulled out my warranty card. From that point on, I felt like his attitude toward me changed and I was an inconvenience to him. He took me outside to look at the job where he proceeded to educate me on the risks of replacing rear window tint. He explained that he tends to damage the defroster strips while “tearing out” the old tint and I had a 50% chance they would not work after he was done (he could guarantee the tint, just not the defroster strips). Suddenly, I was faced with an uncomfortable decision, do I live with bubbly tint or risk no defrosting capabilities? He even recommended I come back if I ever replaced the window. I went home that night feeling defeated. After doing a bit of Googling, I found several YouTube videos on how to properly remove tint without damaging the defroster strips which led me to believe the tech was either using scare tactics to get out of honoring their warranty, or he was just being honest about his inability to properly remove tint. Either way, I can’t trust their work and won’t be doing business with them again. UPDATE: Changing my review from 1 star to 2 because of your honesty. Thanks for the candid and timely response. Today, I called around several other tint shops in the area to see if they also had the 50% success rate for replacement over defroster strips and I got a range of responses. Most said there is always a possibility of nicking a strip line, though rare in most cases and depends on a number of factors including the tint’s age, type, number of layers, etc. My tint, as you saw on my warranty card, is over 9 years old. So, perhaps your 50/50 assessment is accurate for the methods you use. One tinter I called was very upfront about the removal process, stating it’s undesirable work and that he’ll do it, but would rather give me tips on how to do it myself. I get it, it’s a lot of work, especially if you are not making any immediate profit and the film doesn’t come off cleanly in the first go. What’s the motivation, right? I spoke with another guy who was charging top dollar, but said in the many years he’s been in this business, he has never had a customer walk away with an inoperable defroster and guarantees his work 100%. That tells me quality is really up to the workmanship of the tinter. The prices you charge are in the mid to lower range out of all the calls I made, so your level of service makes sense. However, 50% is still pretty awful, hence the 2 stars. No one I called said their success rate was that low. If I was a [new] paying customer, would you have treated me differently? The answer is probably no, but how and what you communicated to me when I came in a few weeks back definitely made me ask myself the question. I personally prefer to pay a little extra to someone who CAN guarantee I won’t drive away with a broken defroster. —– Author: Derek Worth Rating: 2/5 Date: 9/22/2023, 10:30:06 AM Review: Originally, would have given them 6-Stars if possible! Responses were fast and to the point. Pricing is very competitive and the film quality is impressive if you’re going for IR protection as well as privacy. They completed the job in very impressive time as well. If you’re in the Dayton area and need tint work done I would highly suggest working with Tint Masters. —– Author: Jake Sanner Rating: 5/5 Date: 5/18/2022, 11:40:02 PM Review: I was recommended Tint Masters after multiple searches and price comparisons. He is quick, reliable, professional and honest. While slightly above market pricing, his service, adept tinting skill and ability to quick-turn vehicles was worth the expense as he finished both vehicles in a 4 hour timeframe. I highly recommend Tint Masters to people wanting professional and exceptional job performance. —– Author: Jon Rucker Rating: 5/5 Date: 6/11/2021, 10:13:40 PM Review: Jason provided outstanding customer service and was very knowledgeable regarding product protection. Author: Will Compton Rating: 5/5 Date: 5/10/2023, 9:38:18 PM Review: These guys are the real deal. Very pleased with the tint on my car and the service I received! Local owned small businesses that takes care of its customers. Noticed a small spot on one of the windows a few days after so I messaged them. They responded in an hour (even after they were closed) and got me in within a few days! They took care of the spot no problem. No technicalities on the terms of service, just a handshake and good customer service. Would go back! —– Author: Brent Peterson Rating: 5/5 Date: 8/13/2022, 11:21:29 PM Review: Great work, even better customer service. My questions were completely answered and I wasn’t being rushed into something I didn’t like…ended up just going with their recommendation and couldn’t be happier!! Very pleased with how my 4Runner turned out!!! Go here if you want a patient team that will not pressure you into something you may not be happy with, all the while getting their full attention and patience as they really do take the time to make sure you end up with a product and service you’re happy with!! —– Author: Kelly M Rating: 5/5 Date: 4/2/2022, 1:45:51 PM Review: They have a comfortable, no pressure approach. They give you the options, make recommendations, and listen carefully to make sure their work meets your needs. They have different packages to choose from and don’t try to push you into spending more than you need to. They respond quickly. I knew what I wanted when I went in but another customer there at that time did not and it took that person a very very long time to make up their mind. I watched amazing customer service at its best with how they handled the situation. The tint job is flawless. They did awesome work and they got it done pretty quickly. I would definitely go back to them if I ever need tint services again without hesitation. They have earned their great ratings! —– Author: Ingrid Rucinski Rating: 5/5 Date: 2/8/2022, 3:25:10 PM Review: Great customer service! Was able to get a same day appointment.
