Previous Reviews Mentioning Customer Service

Author: Frank Rector Rating: 1/5 Date: 9/12/2023, 9:23:51 AM Review: AVOID this place like the plague. Big sign on building advertising trailer hitch installation. When you walk in the place looks like it was abandoned 30 years ago. Dusty stacks of old outdated stuff piled everywhere. Then you are greeted by Dave. Soft speaking, gray haired (like me), personable guy, quick to tell you how excellent their services are. But either he has genuine cognitive issues going on, or just does not GAF, what followed was a stellar lack of customer service and communication. I did select a hitch and made a date for installation. He asked for $700 deposit on $1200 job but I nervously give him my card and he adds $24 for taxes (I had just bought the $60,000 vehicle I was installing the hitch on and had to put just $500 deposit on that….no tax). I rearranged my schedule and took time off from work to get the vehicle there. Never heard back so I assumed all was well. Stopped by at the end of Wednesday just before closing, THE DAY BEFORE scheduled install. Dave looks up and says, “What a coincidence, I was just going to call you. I have no idea where the parts are”. It became obvious he had not taken the time to track them or to give me a call. Seemed to not have a clue as to the “inconvenience” this caused me He says, “I will get right on it and give you a call”. Heard nothing from him the next day or the one after, so I stopped in on the way home from work on Friday and was hit with, “Wow, I was just going to call you! He goes online and says, “it seems the parts will be here Monday morning” and points to the tracking info on his computer. We reschedule but I try to explain my fears of another loss of work time and need for timely communication. At one point he says, “so what do you want me to do….fall on the floor and grovel for you?”. I should have cancelled right there, but now they have $724 of mine. He says he will call me Monday morning when the parts arrive. I never hear from him so again, so I stop by on the way home from work again just before they close. When I walk in, he greets me like we have never met and after a few very uncomfortable minutes he says….wait for it….”Oh, hi, it’s you. I was just going to call you. Nothing arrived today.” A good service person would get right on the phone with the company but he just seems like he is too busy to even think of options, or cannot, even though the store is empty and nothing is going on. All he can say is that he has been in business for over 20 years and knows that “these things happen” and “it is what it is”. And BTW, there is never any other customers in the dusty old storefront, no other staff, and not a sound coming from the back where allegedly, the “highly professional work” takes place. I calmly tell him that I no longer trust he will communicate with me in a timely fashion or respect my time and cannot risk losing another half-day from work and therefore would like to cancel and get my deposit back. He responds equally calmly, “I don’t think I can do that”. WHAT? There was nothing on the receipt that said my DEPOSIT was non-fundable. I take out my phone and tell him that if I have to, I will call the police so I can document this for my credit card company when I dispute the payment (it was already too late to “stop payment”). He makes a snarky comment and takes my card and refunds $700 to my account….he leaves out the $24 “tax” but at this point I feel I am lucky to get anything and that we avoided police involvement. I go home and later in the evening, hours after the store’s closing time, he calls and calmly says, with a hint of sarcasm, “I just wanted to let you know the parts just arrived”. Really? Even if they did, does he really expect me to suddenly trust him despite my fear that the level of the mechanical service will be the same as the customer service. I refrain from releasing the expletives floating in my brain and just say “thank you….have nice evening” and hung up. I feel like I just dodged a bullet. Do yourself a favor and don’t even call them.
