When I contacted Penske, they made promises that were all kept within the times they scheduled. Calling them for service got me quickly to a real person who was able to answer any questions I had. The finished work was flawless and the price was quite fair. When the retrieval car (which brought me down at pickup time, and was not one which they had worked on) wouldn’t start due to a dead battery, Penske techs kindly brought out a charger which started the vehicle and sent me on my way. A fine outfit. —– Author: Kaz Latven Rating: 5/5 Date: 6/24/2024, 10:16:31 PM Review: When my MBZ blew out a window, the MBZ service dept. said they send all their glass issues to Penske. My crash was serious, so it took 2 months from tow in to drive out. If you have an issue, please reach out to Penske. Kelvin, Sammy, and the group at Penske are great people. Situation: On the 20th of September, I crashed my 2018 BMW M3 and had it towed in to Penske Collision on Balboa. It was a pretty serious crash and Penske took my car in that morning. Reality Check: Clearly, I could not fix my car on my own, and most likely, neither can you. With a crash as bad as mine, this repair was going to take some time. That’s what’s required for your car to be fixed accordingly. It took a little more than 2 months to fix my car in full, and that’s a good time for repair regarding the specialty nature of BMW M cars and the seriousness of my crash. Damage: The M3 had Frame damage, a whole trunk crunched, a trunk lid dented, a whole suspension arm completely destroyed, broken rim, break rotor, pads and caliper, the entire floor pan, exhaust, struts, and wiring harness (Back Left) were also crunched. This was a very serious repair that required technical expertise to bring my car back to factory specifications. Penske determined that over 190 hours of work was required for my car to be repaired in full. My experience: Penske wasn’t always the smoothest, but they took really good care of me when it mattered most. There were weeks where I had to trust that the process is being taken care of. Every time I called, I had an answer or had the opportunity to leave a message that was then followed up on. The other issues I experienced were fixed by Penske’s customer service. I was able to receive my car fully repaired on Wednesday. I put 1500 miles on her since then and I can attest that my M3 is completely repaired. It even got the cars and coffee approval yesterday in San Clemente for the paint and body work quality. Price for Repair: This car has many expensive specialty parts that other cars don’t share in the same capacity. My total repair cost very expensive. It was nearly 74% of the value of my vehicle. My insurance took care of me and integrated well with Penske. My M3 is back on the road, thanks to Penske and the team. Cheers! -Drew —– Author: Drew Thomas Rating: 5/5 Date: 12/12/2022, 1:13:00 AM Review: TLDR: You cant fix your car by yourself, so expect some time to repair your vehicle. Replace the driver’s side front fender. The first estimate I got was $2400. The second was $2800. Penske Collision wrote the third one. I almost fainted when I saw the price! It was $3800!!! $1400 more than the lowest one. They must think people are stupid and have money to flush down the toilet. I predict they are not going to be in business very long. —– Author: Tony Stagnaro Rating: 1/5 Date: 6/21/2022, 8:25:57 PM Review: Beware! This place tried to rip me off! Hi highly recommend Penske collision, especially when dealing with European vehicles. Penske did a great job fixing my rear bumper and replacing all damaged parts. Had an issue with parking brake sensor that was damaged, but did not throw a code when it was initially inspected, but it was damaged in the accident. Paul had me bring the car back and had it repaired. Paula also got me in to a rental at their expense, until the issue was resolved. Thank you Paul and team! —– Author: Bob Patterson Rating: 5/5 Date: 10/18/2024, 2:50:04 PM Review: Outstanding shop. Great service. Great People. Was told they would need it for a few weeks by Paul before committing to Penske to do the repairs. Dropped it off Oct 30th. When I asked for confirmation about the timeline for the repairs to be done when I dropped it off was given a totally different story about the timeline to be several months because of insurance supplements and the process. So why did they tell me they would only need it for a few weeks in the first place??????. Paul dangled my keys in my face and said so are you going to leave it or what? It is a job that requires two parties to complete the repairs. The second party is working extra hours and completing their part of the repairs with much respect for my time. I actually feel terrified writing this review. That Penske will purposefully take longer to complete the repairs ( which is replacing the back panel and some repairs to the sliding door) My insurance company did screw up and slow things down by a couple of weeks and that is not Penske’s fault. But I feel bullied and terrified to call and ask for updates or anything else. I feel really powerless in this situation and it really is disruptive having this vehicle out of my possession for such a lengthy amount of time. It is now going on 7 weeks since I left the van with Penske and when I called Paul about an update of when it would be ready he told me a few more weeks for them to replace the panel. (Plus the additional time for the second party to complete interior repairs) This sounds like an excessive amount of time from Penske to replace the panel. There is still no clarity on when I will have my vehicle back. It is incredibly disruptive and I did tell Penske the importance of it being done in a timely manner. I am so disappointed. I do hear they do very good work. I appreciate that. But customer service and respect for time is completely lacking. —– Author: danesh derissi Rating: 5/5 Date: 10/29/2023, 7:03:33 PM Review: Amazing service as always! Sam and the team are great and got my car back to perfect condition and fast! —– Author: Kim Kleber Rating: 1/5 Date: 10/17/2023, 10:48:47 PM Review: They missed the mark completely. VERY polite when I brought my car in for estimate. Indicated they would take longer than others, but would do great work. Promised an estimate later that day or early next day. Sadly, after 5 days, I have heard nothing. Messages were not returned. Phone was not picked up (all different days & times). POOR communications and customer service. —– Author: Sunny Diego Rating: 1/5 Date: 9/30/2023, 10:57:41 PM Review: I wish I had taken my car elsewhere, I was under the impression that since they work directly with my car dealership (Mercedes Benz of San Diego), they would provide exceptional service. I was wrong. My car, a brand new 2023 EQE has been in their shop for 30 days (today). I was originally promised a 2 week turnaround. 2 weeks went by and the advisor, Connor Cline, asked for another week because they didnt have the part needed (paint). My car is matte, I understand the process would be longer than usual to repair the damage. However, the complete disregard of my time is unreal. My insurance adjustor and I were promised a pick-up date of 9/28, then 9/29, now its 9/30 and no one is in their office to answer my calls despite being promised that they would work after hours and have it ready today. I dont know how many times I have called and been ignored. I understand customer service is not their priority but out of respect for people doing business with them, they should communicate better and refrain from making empty promises. It is both unprofessional and disrespectful. I came by their office and no one was there, Connor left the office without giving me any updates and now I have to wait until next week. I needed my vehicle for a wedding and now there is no way for that to be possible. I have all this in email and I am debating on taking them to court. If you want to be sure about the repair of your vehicle, go somewhere else where they will respect you and communicate with you. Save yourself the time and frustration.
